Recently When Himalaya Herbals recently launched their face care range with a multitude of creams and gels with targeted effects. 

I was obviously lured as it was from one of the reliable brands and that too skin care....

I was looking for a good day cream and was looking for something tinted to hide my spots and hydrating without any greasy feeling so picked Himalaya Herbals Clear Complexion Whitening Day Cream- Lightens skin tone. Provides UV protection.

Himalaya Herbals Clear Complexion Whitening Day Cream comes packed in a 50 gm jar and priced at 250 INR. Easily Available online at all major online shopping sites.

The brand claims- 

Himalaya’s Clear Complexion Whitening Day Cream gives a radiant glow and brighter skin tone. Our day cream is light and non-greasy, enriched with unique herbal extracts and CINNABLOC™ to provide three effective actions:

Hydrates skin

Lightens skin tone

Clears complexion

The breakthrough herbal sunblock CINNABLOC™ provides UV protection and prevents skin darkening.

Ingredients:

Yasti (glycyrrhiza glabra) Rt. 1.7 mg, Sati (hedychium spicatum) Rz 1.25 mg, Kulanjana (alpinia kalanga) Rz 1.25 mg, Sarjaka (vateria indica) Bk o.8 mg, Shalmali (bombax malabaricum) Flr 0.1 mg, Amlaparni (rheum emodi) Rt 0.1 mg.

Inactives- Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben

Although brand claims this to be free of  mineral oils and parabens but the ingredient list on the product carton mentions these as inactive ingredients...quite ambiguous and confusing.

As per brand-

Licorice (glycyrrhiza glabra)  is known to help lighten skin and fade dark spots and blemishes, to give your skin a brighter complexion by inhibiting melanin synthesis.

White Dammer (vateria indica) is a rich source of flavonoids and phenols which exhibit potent antioxidant activity. It helps reduce mild pigmentation and spots, resulting in an even skin tone.

Dermatologically tested, Non-Comedogenic and Hypoallergenic.

Directions for use:

Apply Clear Complexion Whitening Day Cream gently over face and neck twice daily, after cleansing. For best results, use regularly.

The Himalaya Herbals Clear Complexion Whitening Day Cream has a relatively different packaging from usual Himalaya products- Bulky frosted glass tub sealed with a lid and screw cap, housed in a carton with white, green and red accents. 

Himalaya Clear Complexion Whitening Day Cream is tinted cream which seems to have water base- quite light and easy to spread. The gel cream sinks within the skin in few moments after application, spreads easily and gives an immediate glow which fades after couple of hours.

It smells little peculiar- a little herb mixed with florals but mild enough not to bother. 

It took me around 2-3 months to finish the jar as I was little irregular in between. But all what i could see that it works little in fading spots and blemishes but not enough to give a visibly clear or even skin tone. I have oily acne prone skin and this worked well giving my skin required moisturisation without any side effects. 

Leaving harsh hot summers, it works well with its UV protection. But if you are an outdoor person, you would surely need a good sun protection cream. Yes it can be used under makeup, not that it creates a smooth base like primers but yes skin is little prepped after applying this. 

Overall Himalaya Clear Complexion Whitening Day Cream is a normal day cream with good moisturising properties and is suitable for 20+ age group who usually have lesser skin problems like spots and blemishes and need something light to be applied under makeup. Can be skipped.
