Lotus Herbals ALPHAMOIST Alpha Hydroxy Skin Renewal Oil-Free Moisturiser...Review

Hi Girls!

Today i am reviewing one of my most favorite Moisturizers, its ALPHAMOIST Alpha Hydroxy Skin Renewal Oil-Free Moisturiser from Lotus Herbals. I am using this since last 2-3 years and is a MUST HAVE in my stash. I keep looking for good oil free moisturizer with AHA or Anti aging & nourishing properties but till now could not find a better replacement as yet.

Product Claims & usage instructions-

The complexion is rejuvenated, looking and feeling younger.

Product Packaging-

it comes in plastic Ovular Cream colored bottle. it has a dispenser pump and upper push cap. Packaging is quite sturdy and travel friendly.(except the upper cap which does not stay)

Quantity and Price-
80 ml for 225 INR (buy here)

Ingredient List- it does not clearly mention the kind of AHA it contains.

Texture and Fragrance-
it is thick white creamy lotion and has mild pleasant fragrance.

My Experience-
I have oily acne prone skin which is sensitive too. Change of climate aggravates my oil factory. Usually most of the moisturisers are oil based to provide extra nourishment and they all never suited me. I was looking for an oil free hydration formula. When i read that this is not only oil free  herbal formulation but also has AHA -Alpha Hydroxy Acids.

Common facts about AHA-

  1. AHAs are a collection of compounds made from familiar food products. Among the most widely known are glycolic acid (from sugar cane), lactic acid (sour milk), malic acid (apples), citric acid (citrus fruits), and tartaric acid (wine grapes).
  2. Alpha hydroxy acids are great exfoliators and increase blood flow to the skin, so they can help to minimize fine lines and wrinkles.
  3. The main difference among alpha hydroxy acid skin care products is their concentration and pH. Typically, over-the-counter skin care products, such as moisturizers or lotions, contain less than 5-percent of concentration. Higher Concentration ones are used by dermatologists for chemical peels.
  4. While choosing skin care products for daily use, as a general rule of thumb, having the alpha hydroxy acid listed as the second or third ingredient on the list makes it more likely it contains the proper concentration.
  5. These products with lower concentration are designed for daily use and are safe but it can take months to show improvement.
  6. Using an alpha hydroxy acid in a moisturizer base may be the best combination of products.
  7. Cleansers containing alpha hydroxy acids are not very effective because the alpha hydroxy acid must be absorbed in the skin to work. Cleansers are washed off before this absorption occurs.

Ok, lets come back to my experience, i started using this with high hopes. its quite creamy and thick but you require only a single pump or two which dispenses just the RIGHT amount, not much, to cover your face & neck (see the pic above, its 2 pump amount). It spreads well and your find a subtle glow entire day on your face. Consistent use would help in adding to that healthy glow also prevention of black & white heads to some extent. I like the dewy freshness it imparts to my face. Never found any side effect or break outs. I liked that it does not have spf as you need to apply a liberal amount on your face and neck after using this. I have heard that AHA make your face little sensitive and vulnerable to photo radiations.
I usually apply a matte sunscreen or a tinted sunscreen from Lotus itself.
Yeah, you are back to dullness if not used for long.

Overall, MUST HAVE and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED pocket friendly high performing moisturizer for oily and combination skin. Would work on others too.

Have you used this Lotus Herbals ALPHAMOIST Alpha Hydroxy Skin Renewal Oil-Free Moisturiser ? whats your HG moisturizer?
